BILAL ATASH DADASHOV
Bilal Dadashov was born on 30 December 1915. In 1934, he entered Azerbaijan State University, Faculty of Chemistry, which he graduated from with honors. From 1936-1938, he was employed as a laboratory assistant at the Department of Organic Chemistry, which was headed by academician Yusif Mammadaliyev. In 1939, he embarked on postgraduate studies at the Department of Physical Chemistry, BSU, where he later took a job of a teaching assistant.
In 1944, Bilal Dadashov defended a PhD thesis. The same year he became an associate professor at the Department of Physical Chemistry. He, at the same time, was teaching at Azerbaijan Medical Institute named after Nariman Narimanov (present day Azerbaijan Medical University).
He defended a ScD degree in 1957, and obtained professorship in 1959.
In 1965, Bilal Dadashov organized the catalysis laboratory at Y.Mammadaliyev Institute of Petrochemical Processes.
He headed the laboratory until 1995, at the same time, heading the department of heterogeneous catalysis (1990-1993). During this period he also taught physical chemistry at Azerbaijan Institute of Petrochemistry.
In 1979, he was awarded “Merited Scientist” title by the Presidium of the Supreme Council of Azerbaijan SSR.
In 1980, Bilal Dadashov was elected a corresponding member of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. In 1985, he was awarded a certificate of recognition by the Supreme Council of Azerbaijan SSR for his contribution to the development of science and training of specialists in the field of science.
He authored more than 230 articles, and was the holder of 19 authorship certificates. He supervised 21 PhD and 5 ScD students to completion.
Bilal Dadashov gave papers and consultations in a number of countries, including German Democratic Republic (1974), Socialist Republic of Romania (1978), People`s Republic of Bulgaria (1979) and Czechoslovak Socialist Republic (1980 ).
He was the organizer and participant of a number of forums, and international conferences.
