ANVAR AGHAMIRZA BASHIROV

Anvar Bashirov was born in 1920. In 1934, he graduated from Pedagogical Vocational School and entered  Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, Faculty of Nature. In 1941, he went to World War Two. He was demobilized in 1945. In 1947, Anvar Bashirov started his postgraduate studies at Baku State University. In 1949, he defended a PhD thesis. In 1949, he became a senior teacher at the Department of Analytical Chemistry, BSU, where he was made an associate professor in 1965. In 1972, he obtained his a ScD degree after defending a thesis on spectrophotometric study of some organic reagents and their third group elements, cobalt, nickel, and copper complexes. His research interests laid in analytical chemistry of organic reagents. He is one of the founders of spectrophotometric method in Azerbaijan. Anvar Bashirov contributed considerably to the expansion and improvement of analytical opportunities of reagents, and also researched extensively into chemistry of complex compounds. He served as a professor at the Department of Analytical Chemistry, BSU, from 1986 until his death. From 1983 to 1988, he headed the Faculty of Chemistry. He authored more than 70 papers, education and methodological handbooks. Anvar Bashirov was the recipient of “Red Star” Order.
