MUSA RZA BAYRAMOV
Musa Bayramov was born on 4 March 1938. In 1955, he completed his secondary education. From 1956 to 1959, he studied at Baku Agricultural Vocational School, which he graduated from with honors. In 1959, he was admitted to Baku State University, Faculty of Chemistry.
He finished his higher education in 1965. He started his career when he was a fourth-year student, serving as a teaching assistant, engineer, junior research fellow and chief engineer at the All-Union Olefin Research Institute and ANAS Institute of Petrochemical Processes. In 1965, Musa Bayramov embarked on postgraduate studies on a part-time basis at the Institute of Petrochemical Processes.
In 1968, he defended a PhD thesis, and obtained a ScD degree in 1984. In 1986, he became a professor.
In 1969, he was elected an associate professor and in 1978 chair of the Department of Petrochemistry and Chemical Technology, BSU, a post he holds at present. In 1991, he initiated the founding of “The Chemistry of Alkylphenols and Carbonyl Compounds” Research Laboratory under the department.
His major research fields include synthesis of alkylphenols and polyfunctional monomers, production – on their basis – of reactive oligomers and polymers, and soft catalytic pyrolysis of hydrocarbons on high-silicium zeolites. He has published more than 500 papers, 11 monographs, textbooks, education and methodological handbooks, and study programs.
He is the holder of 60 authorship certificates and 16 patents. Musa Bayramov has supervised 19 ScD and PhD and 20 master students to completion.
He is a member of the Thesis Council under ANAS Institute of Petrochemical Processes, ANAS Council on Petrochemistry and Oil Refining, scientific councils of BSU and several faculties, and BSU Council of Elders.
He is the recipient of “USSR Inventor” and “Leading Education Worker” badges, and “Merited Scientist” title.
