MEYVADDIN MAHMUD HAJIYEV
Meyvaddin Hajiyev was born in 1939. In 1956, he completed his secondary education. In 1958, he entered Baku State University, Faculty of Chemistry, graduating in 1965. He started his career in 1960 when he joined the Institute of Petrochemical Processes named after Y. Mammadaliyev, Academy of Sciences, serving as a laboratory assistant, senior laboratory assistant, senior technician and engineer. He then worked as an engineer at All-Republican Technical Security Research Institute, and chief engineer at Alumina Central Department. In 1967, Meyvaddin Hajiyev joined the Department of Petrochemistry and Chemical Technology, where he rose through the ranks from a laboratory assistant to a professor. In 1973, he defended a PhD thesis, and achieved a ScD degree in organic chemistry in 1992. In 1995, Meyvaddin Hajiyev was made a professor of petrochemisry and chemical technology. He was a professor at the Department of Petrochemistry and Chemical Technology, BSU.
His research interests laid in reaction of mixing halogenethers and unsaturated hydrocarbons, and production of new pesticides, inhibitors and flotoreagents. He was an authority on synthesis and use of inhibitors for preventing metal corrosion, synthesis and use of pesticides against pests. He published two monographs, five textbooks and education handbooks, and over 170 papers. He was the holder of 20 certificates of authorship and patents. Meyvaddin Hajiyev was on an internship and gave lectures at Budapest Technical University and Bratislava State University.
