TEYMUR MAMMAD ILYASLI
Teymur Ilyasli was born on 10 October 1948. In 1966, he entered Azerbaijan State Pedagogical Institute. In 1970, he was dispatched to Daghbiliji village, Davachi district, to serve as a chemistry teacher. After being demobilized in 1971, he joined the Institute of Inorganic and Physical Chemistry, ANAS, as a senior laboratory assistant. In 1974, he started his postgraduate studies at the institute. In 1979, he defended a PhD thesis, and obtained a ScD degree in 1992. In 1979, he worked as a junior research fellow at the Institute of Inorganic and Physical Chemistry. In 1982, he headed the educational laboratory at Baku State University, and then served as head of the inorganic material studies research laboratory until 1988. In 1992, he was made a professor. He was the first to synthesize LnAs4X7, LnAs2X4, Ln3As4X9, LnAsX3 type new class compounds to produce their monocrystals, define structures and crystallochemical mechanism of their formation. He has published over 350 papers, four textbooks and an education handbook. He is the holder of eight authorship certificates, and five patents on the production of photosensitive, thermoelectric and optic material. He has addressed international conferences in Lviv, Nalchik, Moscow, Frunze, Uzhgorod, Tbilisi, Gabrovo, Zurich and other cities. Teymur Ilyasli has supervised six PhD students to completion. He currently chairs the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry.
