Fuad Sadiqov was born on 10 April 1950. In 1967, he entered  Baku State University, Faculty of Chemistry, graduating in chemistry in 1973. The same year he started his research activity, joining the Institute of Chemical Problems, Academy of Sciences, as a laboratory assistant. From 1975 to 1978, he attended a three year postgraduate course at the institute, serving as an engineer and junior research fellow. In 1988, he was elected a research fellow at Inorganic Material Studies Research Laboratory, BSU, later serving as a senior and leading research fellow. In 1995, he was elected a professor at the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry. In 2000, he was made a professor. In 2005-2006, he served as dean of the Faculty of Chemistry. He defended a PhD thesis in 1981, and obtained a ScD degree in 1993.

He is working to lay physical and chemical fundamentals of the production of effective thermoelectric materials on the basis of khalkobstibnites and khalkobismutites. Fuad Sadiqov was the first to research into phase balance in more than 20 Ln-BV-X type (Ln, BV-Sb, Bi; X-S, Se, Te) triple systems, set their T-X-Y diagrams, and study the crystalline structure and electrophysical qualities of the new triple phases. He has published 270 papers, nine textbooks and education handbooks. He is the holder of four authorship certificates.

Fuad Sadiqov has supervised eight PhD and 16 ScD students to completion. He has addressed numerous international symposia.

He is the recipient of “Leading Education Worker” badge, and certificates of recognition of the USSR and Azerbaijan Komsomol organizations. He chairs faculty trade unions organizations, and is a member of faculty scientific council.
