FAMIL MUSA CHIRAQOV
Famil Chiraqov was born on 30 June 1958. In 1976, he entered Baku State University, Faculty of Chemistry, graduating in 1984. In 1987, he defended his PhD thesis, and achieved a ScD degree in 2003 and professorship in 2004. In 1980, he embarked on his research and teaching activity at BSU, serving as a teaching assistant, senior teacher, associate professor and professor at the Department of Analytical Chemistry. He has chaired the department since 2006. The same year he received Academician Yusif Mammadaliyev Award. His major research interests lie in new organic reagents and synthetic chelate sorbents for determination of metal ions and their condensation through sorption. He has worked out the methodology of determination and condensation of a range of metal ions of practical importance, and defined mutual reliance between the structure and analytical features of complex compounds. Famil Chiraqov has published over 450 papers, seven textbooks, two translations, one book, five methodological handbooks, 15 study programs, and an education handbook for secondary schools. He is the holder of 14 patents. He has supervised over 30 master and 18 PhD students to completion. Famil Chiraqov is a member of the Scientific Council, Faculty of Chemistry, BSU, and also sits on the university`s D 02.011 Thesis Council.
