In 1966 he graduated from school with a silver medal and entered the Faculty of Chemistry of AUL. In 1972, he studied at the radiation research sector of the postgraduate department of ANAS. In 1979 he graduated from the Institute of Inorganic and Physical Chemistry of ANAS with a degree in "Study of the effect of gamma radiation of zeolite and zeolite-containing catalysts", and in 1995 - "Energy transfer in the processes of radiation-catalytic decomposition of substances on the surface of oxide and metal-oxide systems He defended his doctoral dissertation on "regularities". AA Garibov is the author of about 300 scientific works, including 28 copyright certificates and patents. In 1990-1995 he was the head of the group "Radiation Chemistry of Various Systems". In 1998 he became a professor. In 1995-2001, he was the head of the laboratory "Radiation Chemistry of various systems", the Radiation Research Sector of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. In 2002, he was elected director of the Institute of Radiation Problems of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. He was elected a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan in 2007 on the specialty of Radiation Chemistry, and a full member in 2014.
