Nadir Seyidov was born on 28 April 1932. In 1955, he graduated from Baku State University, Faculty of Chemistry. In 1960, he completed his postgraduate education at the Institute of Oil, Academy of Sciences, Azerbaijan SSR. In 1960, he joined Azerbaijan State Olefin Research Institute as a senior research fellow, where he was later promoted to head of laboratory of elastomers (1962-1978), department head (1979-1993), and deputy director for science (1993-1997). In 1997, he started working as a senior research fellow and was then promoted to laboratory head at ANAS Institute of Petrochemistry. In 1969, Nadir Seyidov became a professor of chemistry of higher molecular compounds. In 1989, he was elected a corresponding and in 2001 a full member of ANAS. He served as a professor at BSU Department of Chemistry of Higher Molecular Compounds. His research interests laid in chemistry of higher molecular compounds and petrochemical synthesis, and production of thermoplasts on the basis of olefins.

He discovered a new economically sound, simple technology of producing different types of ethylene propylene rubber in monomer medium. He tested “AS” and its improved form “VNIIOLEFIN-18” catalyst in the production of polyisobutylene at “Organic synthesis” plant, in the production of butyl rubber at synthetic rubber plant, and in the industrial production of butyl rubber in Nizhnekamsk and Tolyatti, and discovered that those catalysts completely replace aluminum chloride, which is very difficult to be produced because of its activity and stability.

Nadir Seyidov published four monographs and 300 papers. He was the holder of 102 authorship certificates, and 20 patents in foreign countries. He supervised 33 PhD students to completion. Nadir Seyidov was the recipient of an individual presidential pension. He was the recipient of “Badge of Honor” Order and several medals.
