MUSTAFA SATTAR SALAHOV
Mustafa Salahov was born on 29 August 1931. In 1950, as a first year student at Azerbaijan State University, Faculty of Chemistry, he was transferred to Gorky (present day Nizhny Novgorod) State University. He graduated in physical chemistry, embarking on his working career at Sumgayit Synthetic Rubber Factory. In 1958, he started his postgraduate studies at the Institute of Oil, Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences. In 1964, he defended a PhD thesis, and achieved a ScD degree in chemistry in 1974. Mustafa Salahov became a professor in 1976. He has founded and chaired several laboratories since 1966. From 1974 to 1977, he served as deputy director for research at the Institute of Chlorine Organic Synthesis (present day ANAS Institute of Polymer Materials). In 1993-1994, he worked at Marmara Research Center, Turkey. He is currently a corresponding member of ANAS, and heads the Laboratory of Stereochemistry of Monomers and Polymers, ANAS Institute of Polymer Materials. Mustafa Salahov is also a BSU professor, and a member of the university`s Thesis Council. He has published more than 1,100 papers, and is the holder of nearly 200 authorship certificates and patens, as well as five chemical processes. He is the author of 12 scientific and poetry books. He has supervised 35 PhD and 20 master students to completion. Mustafa Salahov is the recipient of “Shohrat” Order, Golden Badge of the International Academy of Sciences, academician Y.H. Mammadaliyev and academician M.M. Mehdizade medals. He was the laureate of the Scientific and Technological Exhibition in 2010.
